What is MIS ERP and MRP

  • 1 Answer(s)

ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) is the overall software system where MRP (Manufacturing Resources Planning) can be a separate software package or a module of a total ERP software solution.

ERP software can be used for planning, managing and controlling core business processes such as finance/accounting, marketing, human resource, manufacturing, inventory management and distribution. The processes production, inventory and distribution can also be managed via MRP (Manufacturing Resources Planning) software.

MIS (Management Information System) on the other hand is a broader category which comprehends all information systems available in a company including ERP and MRP. Based on all gathered information MIS can be used for generating KPI reports to ease decision making.
